Ingredients

butter
  • 1 cup salted butter softened to room temperature
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 0.25 cup dried cranberries chopped
  • 0.25 cup pistachios chopped
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary finely chopped
  • 0.5 tsp flaky sea salt
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 baguette or crusty sourdough torn or sliced

Method

Assemble the butter board
  1. Spread the softened salted butter across a wooden board using the back of a spoon, making swooshes and swirls for a rippled surface.
  2. Drizzle the honey over the butter in thin ribbons so some areas stay visible under the gloss.
  3. Scatter the chopped dried cranberries, chopped pistachios, orange zest, and finely chopped rosemary evenly across the top for bright pops.
  4. Finish with flaky sea salt and red pepper flakes, tipping the board slightly to let the seasonings settle into the swirls.
Serve
  1. Serve immediately with torn or sliced baguette or crusty sourdough for swiping while the butter is spreadable.

Notes

For the cleanest swipes, keep the butter at room temperature only while assembling—if it softens too much, refrigerate it for 10 to 15 minutes to firm up. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; let sit 10 minutes to soften before serving. Freezing isn’t recommended because the toppings and texture soften after thawing. If you want a lighter option, use a good-quality salted plant-butter substitute and follow the same topping method.
